poem break after outside now
watering plants
i was drawn in
to the wings of dragonflies
making the heat dance
the drops on leaves
making havoc on the lives of aphids
as if i coursed
through the veins of the hibiscus
the sun killed consciousness
and the spray
delivered us from it
my desire soaked into the ground
at the muddy
now
bases of dry roots
interlocked
base of clawing towards heaven
secret jungles
ecological interconnectedness
is that
too pretentious a term?
to consider oneself
inter...
inside of and a part of
all of it
because of water through a hose
in the heat of summer
feeding?
nurturing?
me
the animals
the plants
who depends on whom?
what?
this sense of all of it in me
pulsing in my fluids
and me surging through it all
every leaf and underground tunnel
to every
soaked feathers
of every chirping red cardinal
on the brink of
sated
filled
and expanding tissue
of
the day?
